The Holidays Abroad

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed your holidays & the season. Here in Uganda, it’s been about 80 degrees and hot. Dry season is here (still rains, but not as much). So what to do when Christmas day is hot? Go to the beach! Many families spend Christmas morning at church and then head outside to the local parks and beaches for a family day spent together.

Christmas also marked 4 months in Uganda! It can’t believe that this month is my half-way mark through my fellowship. It’ll fly-by because soon I’ll be on my way to Senegal for work and then Albino visits! But, let’s go back to how I’ve spent the holidays…

For Christmas, a friend and fellow working in Tanzania came to visit! We enjoyed going to The River Nile, a great trip to the Uganda Wildlife & Education Center, & playing games & watching Christmas movies.

I loved the Rhinos! Also – they are much softer than you would imagine 🙂
The Shoebill bird – HUGE

Then we set-off for ZANZIBAR! Zanzibar is off the coast of East Africa & is part of Tanzania. It was amazing. Rather than telling a ton of details, here are some of my favorite pictures.

Four Fellows!
Sunset Cruise & trying to not get burnt
A few minutes later we jumped off!
We toured a spice farm & they gave us this hand decor, basket, and coconuts at the end.

In 2019, my life had a lot of big choices & changes. I can’t begin to think of what 2020 might bring, but I’m here for it 🙂
